Individual Counseling
If you've come to this website, I imagine you already know that something is bothering you. There is either something you don't want (like anxiety, depression, or loneliness) that you haven't found the path away from, or there is something you do want (such as a new career, peace, good relationships) that that you haven't figured out how to get to. If this is true, and you have the desire to change it, you are ready for therapy.
What I do in therapy is work with you to understand what is going on now, why that is, and then help you change to support your goal. The change I speak of is in you - your thoughts, beliefs, choices and actions.
We can and will talk about others in relationship to you but the only place you really have leverage is in yourself. In our work, I will challenge you on your deeply-held beliefs about your own brokenness or limitations. I know each person has the potential for a rich, fulfilling life. We just need some help sometimes.
Whether you are from a "happy" family or not, a "dysfunctional" family or not, none of us grows up without strengths and weaknesses, or coping strategies for getting through life. When you are finally an adult, it's a great time to re-balance those aspects. One particular coping strategy I specialize in working with is being a "nice guy".
I use a variety of approaches and techniques in my work with individuals. My core philosophy is family systems theory, and I use Cognitive-Behavioral, Psychoeducational and Solution-Focused theory in my work.
My fee for individual counseling is $85 for a 50-minute session when paying in full at each session. If you wish me to bill your insurance, my non-discounted rate is $107/session. For a short video clip on how I work with individuals, please visit my Video/FAQ page.
