Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What kind of people do you tend to work with?

Most of my clients are intelligent, successful people who are experiencing some trouble in their life (relationship difficulties, life transitions, depression, anxiety) or feel ready to move beyond some past issue or limitation to create a more fulfilling life. I work with men, women and couples, from teenagers to those in their forties and fifties.

Q: When do you see clients?

I have office hours at my Lake Union location Monday through Friday. I see clients as early as 10:00 AM, and as late as 7:30 PM by appointment. I offer convenient lunch hour appointments for people who work in the Downtown, Fremont, Capitol Hill and Queen Anne areas.

Q: How often would I come in?

I prefer to see people weekly. My experience is that this provides the best momentum for creating and sustaining change in their lives.

Q: How many sessions would I see you?

I see most clients between anywhere from 10 to 25 times, though the duration of therapy is up to you. It depends greatly on your goal, the complexity of the situation, and your readiness to change.

Q: How long does a session last?

Counseling sessions run 50 minutes. Sometimes, I will book longer sessions if the need arises.

Q: What is your fee?

If you wish to pay in full at each session, I offer a discounted fee of $85/session with individuals, and $100/session with couples. If you'd prefer that I bill your insurance company directly, my non-discounted fee is $107 for individual sessions and $125 for couples sessions.

Q: How does this work with my insurance?

We can work with your insurance in two ways:

  1. I can do all the paperwork, wait for their reimbursement, and bill you the difference between that and my non-discounted fee.
  2. You can pay my discounted fee in full at each session, and I will give you a monthly invoice that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
I may not be "in-network" or a preferred provider in your plan. Please ask me - this changes the percentage they will reimburse. I'm happy to contact your insurance company and check your coverage. I am in Microsoft's EAP network.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, as well as credit and debit cards.

Q: Are you accepting new clients?

I limit my practice to 25 sessions per week so that I may bring full-attention and energy to my clients. I am currently accepting a limited number of new clients.

Q: How do I contact you?

Either by email or phone is fine. My office phone number is 206.799.6566 and my email address is peter@changingforgood.com
